A Personal Story That Has Become A Common Mission

It all started when I was 6 years old

After completing the first class, I got the first puppy of my life for the lengthy nagging of my parents. It was a warm, sultry summer day. I was already excited for the afternoon when the puppy finally arrived someday! It was the cutest creature I had ever seen. It was a mixture, and all that could be known about it was that Mom was a pooch. The father’s identity was obscured.

I honestly admit, it didn’t bother me then – and ever since. As the years went by, we became more and more friendship with Cricksy. That name tastes pretty interesting, I know. But what can you expect from a six-year-old boy…

Then the trouble struck

Until I started my high school studies, we got together and did everything together, Cricksy and I. So it’s summer again, we’re only jumping 8 years ahead of time. In 2005, at the age of 8, Cricksy had cancer. The disease began to develop on her stomach, which then spread to her entire body.

We struggled with the disease for nearly a year until he finally gave up the fight. Many of my friends said it was just a dog, yet I felt like I had lost a friend and family member that day.

I’m still close to the dogs

I haven’t had my own dog since losing Cricksy. Luckily, one of my close relatives has a beagle that I can “raise” when I’m home. His name is Spotted. He is 4 years old and a very smart dog. Very playful and a real omnivore!

Just imagine the turning point in my life when once in the spring of 2017, out of curiosity, I looked at what we were giving Spotted to eat. It was all written on the dog food label. There are many, many kinds of indecipherable ingredients. Plus, it’s so long that you can’t even follow it. That’s why I thought I’d go after the ingredients.

After a long search on the internet, I realized that a significant portion of dog food still had room for improvement in terms of quality. Excess vitamins, poor quality meat meal, and “ingredients” containing 0.1%… I was pretty disappointed and that’s when the big idea came!

2017: Founding of CricksyDog

In the spring of 2017, I founded CricksyDog with Jimmy and Susanne. I think it’s a very striking name and symbolizes well all that we are (in memory of my first and to this day only one dog). We try to put into it the sincere, selfless love that he has shown us every day. So this is a kind of homage to my dog who lives in our hearts forever!

For a while, we manufactured our feeds at a local small company at home (because we could not invest in our own plant so far), but unfortunately this was not possible from 2019 onwards. We have raised our already high standard even higher. Very few manufacturers currently meet the extra strict quality standards we require! All of our feeds are proudly produced in our great country, in the United States of America! Of course, the recipe and the ingredients are our responsibility, they only do the production. The packaging of the feeds, the sewing of the bags and all other processes are already in our warehouse.

Our future plan is to set up our own production plant, but we will certainly have to wait another 1-2 years for this. Until then, we will continue our goal of having more and more happy owners and even happier dogs in the United States of America!
